TimeToCoda - Productivity Tracker, Dashboard and Chrome Extension

$0+

I love Coda.  Like you, I love to do everything in Coda!  Yet, sometimes that can present a problem:

  • Switching between Coda documents back to the time tracker I can lose my place;
  • Tasks I do outside of Coda - I’d like recorded in my time tracker table without opening Coda.

To solve this I designed TimeToCoda a Google Chrome extension which enables you to access your ‘To-do list’, ‘Projects’ and record the time from the convenience of Chrome whether you are in another Coda doc or some other activity.

Time is more valuable than money.
You can get more money but you can’t get more time

- Jim Rohan

Where did my time go?

You know that feeling when you get to the end of a week or a busy day and say “Where did my time go?”  It’s demoralising to see the time pass and not know where it has gone.

I’ve tracked time most of my entire career to gain insight:

  • what I’m good at,
  • what I can improve on,
  • what should be delegated or outsourced.

This has been a personal savior and basis for growth.

What am I good at? What should I do more & less of?

My relationship with time has matured from a purely time/cost basis to uncover more insights from data.  For this purpose, I adopt the model of contrasting ‘Contraction’ vs ‘Expansion’.  This model gets away from connotations or pre-conceptions associated with emotions into a quick and easy scale -10 to +10 scale.

Did the activity induce the feeling of Contraction or Expansion?

At the extremes of the scale we have:

  • Expansion (+10) - operating at high vibrational frequency, inspired, in flow;
  • Contraction (-10) - low vibes: anxious, fight-or-flight, critical self-talk.

At times you may feel near the middle, quite neutral; yet don’t ignore this value.  After each activity, take a moment to reflect and rate up or down even if it is a small amount.  By doing so you'll improve your self-awareness, instinct and discover what inspires or drains you most.

Tip: Contraction is not necessarily negative - a period of contraction can result in high levels of expansion when you break through.

Contraction is often experienced in stages of learning and growth until you gain proficiency; then Expansion on the other side your new skills being you joy.

You don’t want to live a boring, neutral life do you 😉?  If you are a little too in the middle... seek out challenges and opportunities for example: hackathons, more responsibly or speaking in front of your peers.
